Here we are, weeks away from Mardi Gras, and women are posting their bra color (or, um, lack thereof) in Facebook status updates, presumably to raise breast cancer awareness.
Though I am very much for educating oneself about breast cancer and getting mammograms and so forth, I have to say I am not the sort of person who shares my bra information with the masses.
Then again, I was also never the sort to flash my way into extra beads at Mardi Gras. My mother would have killed me.
Now that you know what a prude I am, here’s a feature I wrote on Komen for the Cure founder Nancy Brinker in this month’s Palm Beach Illustrated. Though I did not ask the ambassador about her bra color (again, my mother would have killed me), I did get the chance to speak with her about her very powerful mission, which was borne out of a promise to her sister. Go take a peek and, if you’re so inclined, get involved in Komen in a neighborhood near you. It’s a great cause helping millions of people around the world.
